Education on Measurement

Calibration

Calibration is comparing the measured value displayed by a measuring device to the "true" reference value (Standard). Calibration involves producing a Calibration Certificate that contains the measured error (Accuracy), the Environmental Condition and Calibration Standard used in the process.

Verification

Verification is a qualitative test which provide proof that a measuring device complies with specific requirements set by a Regulatory Body, Manufacturer Requirements, Process or User Requirements. This Measuring Device is graded as pass if it meets the specification or fail if it does not meet the specification.

Adjustment

Adjustment refers to setting the Measuring Instrument in such a way to limit error deviation from the Reference or Standard Value (Reference Device). Therefore adjustment requires altering the Measuring Device.
